If ‘music marketing tools’ makes you think of Bandcamp, or (God forbid) Photoshop, we seriously need to talk.

Thanks to AI, a lot has changed in the last 5 years. And if you’re not keeping up, the artists in your genre are gonna make you feel irrelevant.

Seriously, no cap!

You keep reading, and in a few minutes, I'll show you such music marketing tools that you might have never seen.

#1 - Music Distribution Platforms

Almost every artist starts by uploading songs on YouTube.

Later on, everyone realizes that this needs to go on Spotify, Apple Music, and beyond.

That’s where music distribution platforms jump in. Here are 3 platforms that I personally like:

DistroKid

Distrokid is a fast, affordable, and reliable music distribution platform that uploads your song to major streaming platforms.

One thing I love about Distrokid is they allow you to take 100% royalty from your social media.

However, YouTube’s 20% cut is still an exception here.

distrokid.jpg

TuneCore

It’s a great but bigger music distribution platform than Distrokid.

Unlike Distrokid, Tunecore not only takes 20% cut from YouTube. Check this out, the game is a bit different here:

Tunecore royalty

Now you might wonder why Tunecore? I’d say if you’re trying to grow your music career seriously, learn about your audience, and even pitch to film or TV? TuneCore will surpass Distrokid with flying marks.

Oh btw, many artists report that Tunecore provides more payout than Distrokid.

I know it’s confusing. I’d recommend reading the Tunecore vs Distrokid article I wrote last week.

I’m sure you’ll be able to understand how they’re different and which one would be the most suitable for you.

#2 - Playlist Promotion

For a long time, we’re not just struggling with artists. In fact, our competition is with comedians, actors, esports gamers, and the list goes on.

In such a crowded rush, the marketing has become more expensive than ever.

I know because I’ve been there as a music producer myself. So, here’s a little backstory.

Back in 2018, I started SoundCampaign because I wanted to help those who can’t afford to market their music.

SoundCampaign

I started making connections with Spotify playlist curators, TikTok influencers, and artists.

Eventually, I ended up being the middle guy who could help people land in playlists that they belong to. Actual playlists, not bot ones. And if not, at least they can get some feedback.

So later on, I’ve put together that thing into a music tech startup.

And the rest is history…

SoundCampaign results

Let me tell you how it works.

Go here and submit your track.

Submit your track for playlist adds

Now this is where you might get a chance or not. So, make sure you fill the right genre based on the mood of your song.

Select genre for better playlist adds

Select your budget. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged until you get accepted. This is just to match you with the right playlists.

Setup campaign budget for using SoundCampaign tool

That’s it, now you’ll start getting feedback from our curators.

Getting feedback from SoundCampaign playlist curators

See? How easy it is. This platform gets you featured if your track is approved.

You’re not paying for streams. You’re paying for a chance to get your music in front of the right people. If it resonates with them, it gets placed.

It’s not a magic bullet, but it’s a reliable way to put your music in front of real listeners, with no guesswork and bots.

#3 - Content Creation & Promotion

CapCut is a free, mobile-friendly video editing app created by ByteDance.

You might not know this, but this might shock you a little:

Capcut owned by TikTok

It’s designed to let creators edit, enhance, and publish high-quality videos all from our phones(iOS, Android), or browsers.

It allows trimming, splitting, merging, and speed adjustment, as well as advanced options such as keyframe animation, green screen.

Whether you're dropping a track, promoting a show, or teasing a release on Instagram Reels or TikTok, CapCut helps you turn raw clips into scroll-stopping content.

Capcut

This video editing app is quite handy. Let me show you how it works:

  • Launch the app and tap “New Project” to import videos or photos from your device
Capcut mobile
  • Use the timeline to arrange clips and apply edits such as trimming, cutting, adding overlays, texts, effects, and animations
  • Adjust video speed, add transitions, and use advanced features like keyframe animation

Runway ML

Runway ML is great at AI video generation, advanced visual effects, and extra creatives.

Artists who don’t have time to record themselves can outsource their videos with this AI tool.

You can try it out with text-to-video, image-to-video, and combined text-plus-image video generation.

Just by describing a scene or uploading unique videos, you can get a lot of cool stuff here.

It is web-based with intuitive interface features such as central preview window, side panels for prompt input and settings, and timeline/keyframe controls for detailed adjustments, which makes it accessible for both beginners and professionals.

Here’s how it looks like:

Runaway ML

Did you know that this has been used in music videos for high-profile musicians such as A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Brockhampton, and The Dandy Warhols?

Here’s an introduction video by the Runway team to help you learn better about it: Introducing Runway Gen-4 | Runway

Canva Pro

I’m sure you know what Canva is. But if you don’t have Pro, you’re losing a lot on the table.

The reason is there’s a lot of templates there that you can save time with. As an artist who just got started, I know you can’t hire a graphic designer.

So in that case, paying a little for Canva isn’t a bad deal. In fact, these days everyone’s selling it cheap, especially if you’ve got a student ID.

All I’m saying is you just need to know where to look.

Btw, here’s something I designed with Canva within 5 minutes. Cool, isn’t it?

Canva Graphics

Adobe Express

Canva was for beginner level graphics. If we talk about Adobe Express, we’re talking about the 2.0 level stuff here.

You can’t imagine how cool cover art, promo content, and sleek social graphics you can get in seconds.

The best part? Its generative AI is far better. Just check this video, you’ll know what I’m talking about:

#4 - Social Media & Fan Engagement

Social media should be your #1 priority as an artist.

After all, you’re not living in 2008. If you say something on social media now, it may become headlines on Billboard.

So, let me tell you what tools can boost your social media game.

Buffer

Buffer allows you to schedule your posts and reels on Instagram, X, and TikTok. All you gotta do is upload here once like a Calendar, and that’s it.

It just gives you that ‘set and forget’ system like this:

buffer

Just because I’ve shown you the platform from my desktop, that doesn’t mean this suck on mobile. See, how cool it is there as well:

buffer calendar

The best thing about Buffer is you don’t even need a paid plan to fulfill all your needs. Just sign up and you’re good to go.

Hypeddit

Hypeddit is a Swiss Army knife for music marketing. If you're an artist trying to grow your audience, rack up streams, and not get buried in the algorithm graveyard, it can help in a few key ways:

  • Grow your fanbase with download gates (follows, likes, reposts, email signups)
  • Share smart links that route fans to all major platforms
  • Run Spotify pre-save campaigns to build momentum pre-release
  • Capture emails so you own your audience
  • Boost visibility on SoundCloud and Hype Machine
  • Trade promo with other artists to grow faster

No fluff. Just tools that move your music forward.

Here’s a cool example from Two Friends. See, how they’re collecting followers with their music:

Linktree

Linktree is a simple but effective tool for many famous artists out there.

If you’re not that far behind, I guess you already know that it helps you keep all links in one place.

This is so powerful that many famous artists are using it. Here are some examples for you:

Camila LinktreeBritney Spears link in bio toolHippie Sabotage link in bio page

Basically, it helps you keep all your links in one place in the simplest way possible. It’s so easy you don’t even need a tutorial.

Beacons

If Linktree is the standard, I’d say Beacons is quite futuristic.

This platform gets you better monetization, customization, integrated email tools, media kit support, income dashboard, and much more.

Did you know your favourite artist ‘JVKE’ loves Beacons too?

JVKE

So if you wanna learn more about what Beacons is and how it works, this guy covered up a lot of cool stuff here: Beacons AI Tutorial

Instagram Music Promotion Tool

Recently, SoundCampaign launched an Instagram music promotion tool that helps you connect with relevant influencers.

Instagram promotion service

Each influencer makes authentic Reels featuring your track, helping your music spread naturally and attract genuine engagement.

Every campaign includes guaranteed performance, running until your view goal is reached so you get clear, measurable exposure. Even after the campaign ends, those Reels stay live, keeping your music visible and driving ongoing plays.

With a network of 3,000 verified influencers who’ve helped generate over 157 million streams, you’re tapping into proven reach and credibility. You also get full transparency, with clear reports showing campaign activity, posted content, and real results.

#5 - Monetisation Tools

Those who’re saying we’re not doing it for money have to do it for it. It’s your passion, that’s what you do 24 X 7, how will you get paid?

That’s another thing you have any other way to get paid. But, is that what you truly want?

If not, let’s just monetize your music so that you can enjoy paying your bills.

Patreon

Patreon is a membership platform that allows creators to earn a steady income by offering exclusive content and perks to their fans through paid subscription tiers.

Fans, called patrons, subscribe monthly or per post, supporting creators directly and gaining access to these exclusive benefits.

Amanda Palmer can be a great inspiration for you here. She runs three tiers for her exclusive content:

  • You’re here! ($1/month)
  • Download tier ($3/month)
  • Random Surprises ($5/month)
Amanda Palmer Patreon success story

Right now she has 23,556 members. Even if 25% of those members are paid members, I guess she’s making $10K+ per month from Patreon only.

Ko-fi

Ko-fi is a friendly platform that lets fans support creators by buying them a “coffee,” a simple, one-time donation to fund their creative work.

It started as a fun way to say thanks, but has grown into a versatile ‘buy me a coffee tool.’

With a simple customization page, artists receive tips, set up membership tiers, sell digital or physical products, and even offer commissions.

Something like this:

Victoria Banks buy me a coffee strategy

Ko-fi charges low fees (0-5%), so creators keep more of what they earn. And about payments, you can easily get it to your PayPal or Stripe.

Printful

Printful is a print-on-demand (POD) platform that allows artists to sell custom-designed products like apparel, prints, mugs, and more.

And guess what? You don’t even have to worry about inventory, printing, or shipping. They do all of that on your behalf.

You simply upload your artwork, choose products to apply your designs to, and when a customer orders, Printful prints and ships the item directly to them.

Printful

Imagine mixing Beacons and Printful together to make some good money. Yeah, that could be a:

Fourthwall

Printful is Linktree and Fourthwall is Beacons of the scene. If you have not skimmed this page, you know what I’m talking about.

You know what really separates Fourthwall from Printful?

It’s a creator-focused platform offering a one-click storefront + merch solution made specifically for creators to build their own fully branded websites.

What I love the most is this:

#6 - Analytics & Optimization

Spotify for Artists

Spotify for Artists

There’s a 90% chance you already know about this. But this isn’t just some dashboard where you check your tracks, tweak your name, and bounce.

It’s your personal command center. The data you need to grow like a pro.

Here’s what you get:

  • Streaming data: Total streams, unique listeners, daily trends per track.
  • Audience insights: Age, gender, and location breakdowns to tailor your promo and tour planning.
  • Engagement metrics: Playlist adds, saves, and shares. The stuff that gets you noticed by Spotify’s algorithm.
  • Real-time updates: Live listener counts and fresh stats to help you move fast and stay relevant.
  • Release analytics: Deep performance data on each drop. See what’s working and why.

With this kind of intel, you’re not just making music. You’re building a strategy.

And the most important thing? Spotify for Artists is your ticket to editorial playlists.

Apple Music for Artists

Apple music for artists

This isn’t just Apple’s version of Spotify for Artists. It’s a powerhouse in its own right, especially if you’ve got fans deep in the iOS ecosystem.

The insights here can sharpen your strategy and unlock new opportunities across Apple Music and iTunes.

Here’s what you get:

  • Streaming data: Total plays, average daily listeners, song and album trends across time.
  • Audience insights: Age, gender, location, and Shazam stats. Yep, you can see where people are discovering you in the wild.
  • Sales metrics: iTunes downloads, pre-adds, and performance across your full catalog.
  • Milestone tracking: Get notified when you hit key benchmarks. A slick feature to celebrate wins (or drop humble brags).
  • Integration perks: Direct links to your tracks on Apple Music, playlist placement alerts, and artist profile control. All synced within Apple’s ecosystem.

The bonus? It’s like you’ve got ears on the street.

When someone hears your track and wants to know who you are, you’ll know where and when it happened.

If Spotify gives you scale, Apple gives you precision. Together, they’re the data duo you need if you’re serious about this game.

Chartmetric

Chartmetric

Chartmetric is for serious and growing artists. It’s the data-driven sidekick you didn’t know you needed. At $9.99/month, it’s a no-brainer.

Here’s what makes it worth every cent:

Social & streaming stats dashboard: See all your numbers across Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TikTok, and Amazon Music in one slick interface. No more jumping between apps or guessing what’s working.

Audience analytics: Want to know who’s listening? Chartmetric breaks it down by age, gender, location, engagement, even brand interests. You can spot superfans, cities to target, and influencers already vibing with your stuff.

Neighboring artists: Find artists with a similar audience and see what moves they’re making. This is gold for finding collabs, booking smarter shows, or just understanding your lane.

Playlist tracking: See which playlists are driving your streams, how long you’re sticking, and what’s actually moving the needle. No fluff, just facts that help you grow.

Cross-platform trends: One look and you’ll know where your streams are coming from and which platform deserves your energy next. Strategic moves only.

And yes, you get a 7-day free trial with no credit card. So try it out, see the data, and decide for yourself.

Google Analytics (Free)

Google analytics for artists

If you're running your own website, smart link page, or merch store, Google Analytics is your secret weapon. It shows you who's visiting, where they're coming from, and what they're doing on your site.

Here’s how it helps:

Traffic sources: Find out if fans are coming from Instagram, email newsletters, Google searches, or referral sites. Double down on what’s working.

User behavior: See which pages are getting clicks, how long visitors stay, and where they bounce. This helps you optimize for merch sales, mailing list signups, or pre-saves.

Geographic data: Break down your traffic by country, city, and region. Perfect for planning tours or local ad targeting.

Conversion tracking: Set goals like “signed up for mailing list” or “bought a shirt” and track how well your funnel is working.

Custom dashboards: Build a view tailored to your goals so you can see exactly what matters at a glance.

It’s totally free and incredibly powerful once set up.

If you're sending fans anywhere online, you should be tracking what happens next. Data beats guessing every time.

Final Thoughts!

So far I’ve given you a lot of AI and non-AI tools for music marketing. Some are directly involved in marketing while some are not.

But, you use it well and you’re gonna see a lot of great results in your marketing.

Apart from that, I’ve also mentioned tools that are working well together with each other.

So, you gotta put your artistic creativity to use and you’ll definitely make a name for yourself in this crowded industry :)
