How much does TikTok pay?
The platform itself pays modestly. The old Creator Fund averaged $0.02–$0.04 per 1,000 views; the Creator Rewards Program that replaced it in 2024 pays more (roughly $0.40–$1.00 per 1,000 qualifying views), and rates skew higher in niches like finance and tech than in comedy or dance content.
The real money is off-platform: brand deals, LIVE gifts, and TikTok Shop affiliate sales usually dwarf view payouts. Top creators routinely earn more from a single sponsored post than from a month of Creator Rewards. That is why this tool models brand deals alongside Creator Rewards for a realistic monthly total, instead of just the view-based payout most calculators stop at.
The TikTok Creator Rewards Program: how it actually works
Creator Rewards (launched in 2024, replacing the old Creator Fund) pays based on a mix of video performance and originality, not just raw views. To qualify you need:
- At least 10,000 followers
- At least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days
- Videos longer than 1 minute (short clips under a minute do not earn)
- An account in good standing, 18+, in an eligible country or region
Eligible regions include the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil, among others, so payouts are not available everywhere yet. Play length, watch time, audience location, and how original the content is (duets, reposts, and low-effort content earn less) all move your RPM up or down within a video, which is why two creators with identical view counts can see very different payouts.
The revenue streams we model
Creator Rewards = monthly views ÷ 1,000 × your RPM. Brand deals = your followers scaled by a niche rate (about $25–$45 per 1,000 followers per sponsored post), assuming a couple of sponsored posts a month once you pass ~10K followers. LIVE gifts and TikTok Shop can add more on top.
Earnings by follower tier
Follower count sets a ceiling on brand-deal size, but engagement decides where you land within it. Rough sponsored-post benchmarks across the industry:
| Tier | Followers | Typical rate per post |
|---|---|---|
| Nano | Under 10K | $5–$60 |
| Micro | 10K–100K | $60–$250 |
| Mid | 100K–500K | $200–$1,000 |
| Macro | 500K–1M | $400–$5,000 |
| Mega | 1M+ | $750–$20,000+ |
Engagement rate often matters more to brands than raw follower count: a smaller, highly-engaged account can out-earn a larger, passive one, and top-tier deals with celebrity-scale creators can run into six figures per post regardless of what a table like this suggests.
Other ways creators make money on TikTok
Beyond Creator Rewards and brand deals: the Creator Marketplace matches you with brands directly, LIVE and video gifts convert into real payouts (viewers buy Coins, send them as virtual gifts, and creators redeem the Diamonds they receive for cash), affiliate links and a TikTok Shop storefront earn commission on sales, fan tips and subscriptions (Patreon-style) add recurring income, and established creators sometimes consult for brands on TikTok strategy or license their content for ads.
What actually moves your rate
Niche (finance, tech, and beauty typically out-earn general comedy and dance), engagement rate, audience location (US and Western European viewers carry a higher ad and brand-deal value than lower-CPM regions), video length and watch time (longer, fully-watched videos earn more under Creator Rewards), and content originality all shift your real payout up or down from any calculator's midpoint estimate. Treat every number on this page as a planning range, not a guarantee.
How to calculate your engagement rate
(Likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100. Brands weigh this alongside follower count, and it is often the bigger factor in what a sponsored post actually pays, since a smaller, highly-engaged account can out-earn a larger, passive one.
